Bochum have only won once thrice in the league this season, a big reason for Heiko Herrlich’s side sitting dangerously close to the relegation zone. All three of those wins were 1-0’s, and one of them was against HSV, probably the club’s biggest achievement in the Bundesliga this season.

Bochum’s last game was away against Stuttgart. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Bochum’s Christian Fuchs equalising late in the game with a free kick. Striker Diego Klimowicz was sent off in the game, and is suspended for Bayern’s visit. The result also lead to Stuttgart coach Markus Babbel losing his job.

Bayern Munich managed to do something that was being nearly considered impossible a fortnight ago by qualifying for the Champions League. Louis van Gaal’s men needed to beat Juventus in Turin to qualify, and they crushed the Bianconeri 4-1 to complete their great escape in Group A.

Juventus took the lead through David Trezeguet, but Bayern were deservingly back on level terms eleven minutes later when goalkeeper Hans Jorg Butt scored from the spot. Ivica Olic, who had earned the penalty, put Bayern ahead in the 51^st minute. Juventus keeper Gigi Buffon parried Daniel Van Buyten’s header only for the ball to fall into the path of Olic, who scored from close range. Mario Gomez and Anatoliy Tymoschuk also scored later in the game as Bayern put in one of their best performances this season to oust Juve.
