The appointment of new boss Quique Sanchez Flores has seen Atletico bounce back in this season after spending the initial months in the relegation zone. The improvement under Flores was evident when the Rojiblancos beat high-flying Sevilla by a 2-1 margin last week.

the win sees them placed 11th on the table with 17 points from 16 games played so far. Jose Reyes has recovered from a neck injury and should take the field against Valladolid.

Meanwhile the home side is in the 13th place in the league with 16 points from 16 games. Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar will be aware that just three points separate his team from the drop zone and that they cannot afford any slip ups at this stage.

Last week Valladolid succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Getafe thanks to Javi Casquero's late goal in the 83rd minute.
