The defending champions are off to a perfect start and have won all of their first six league games. With Real Madrid slipping up against Sevilla in their last game, Barcelona have opened up a three point lead at the top of the league table and coach Josep Guardiola will be pushing his players to avoid any slip ups against a David Villa led Valencia attack this weekend.

The 27-year old missed out on Spain's qualifiers against Armenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina with a muscle tear but is expected to recover in time for the game against Barcelona. Villa has had an excellent start to the season, scoring six goals from six games and Valencia coach Unai Emery will be requiring his star player for one of the most important games that could shape the club's fortunes this season.

However Valencia will be without winger Joaquin who has also suffered a muscle strain and will be out of action for at least three weeks. Emery will be confident that his side can manage to collect at least a point from the game after a good performance against Racing Santander that saw Nikola Zigic score the winner for the Merengots and help them to their first win in four games

Valencia had lost 4-0 to Barcelona at Camp Nou last season but put up a vastly improved performance in the return leg with goals from Hedwiges Maduro and Pablo helping them to a 2-2 draw at the Mestalla.
