Five wins in a row have lifted Valencia to fourth in the league table and the club is in a great position to clinch their place in the Champions League next season with Atletico Madrid five points behind with just six games remaining in the season.

Fans will be hoping that their side will maintain their excellent form as long as possible and are aware that failure to qualify for the Champions League will further worsen the financial uncertainty surrounding the club.

Valencia secured a hard fought 2-1 win over Real Betis on Wednesday with David Villa scoring a brace in the second half. Though Ricardo Oliveira managed to reduce the deficit three minutes from the final whistle, it was too little too late for Betis who succumbed to their 13th defeat of the season.

In contrast Barcelona produced a brilliant display to thrash third placed Sevilla 4-0 to maintain their six point advantage at the top of the league table. Andres Iniesta and Samuel Eto'o put Barca in a 2-0 lead before half time while Xavi and Thierry Henry wrapped up the points in the second half.

With the season entering its final five matches, Barcelona will be confident of lifting the league title though there is still some way to go before they can relax. The Catalan giants had thrashed Valencia 4-0 at Camp Nou early this season but face a rejuvenated side who will be hoping to pull off an upset against the league leaders.
