Unirea did not have such a good start to their maiden European campaign when they lost 2-0 to Sevilla on Matchday 1. Luis Fabiano scored with a fine drive in the last minute of the first half, while Renato sealed all points for the Spanish club in the 70th minute.

Unirea coach Dan Petrescu praised Fabiano as the best striker in the world after his performance against his club. However he will now be hoping his side can respond to that defeat by putting up a string performance at home against Stuttgart.

Meanwhile Stuttgart were disappointed in their first game after being held to a 1-1 draw by Rangers. Pavel Pogrebnyak had given the hosts the lead in the 11th minute of the match, but an inspirational goal in the 77th minute by defender Madjid Bougherra leveled things for the visitors.

Manager Markus Babbel will know that his side need to collect all three points from this encounter especially as the group also features Sevilla. Stuttgart will be confident of doing well in Romania as they had to beat another Romanian club Timisoara to qualify for the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
