Turkey came roaring back into contention for a place in the quarterfinals after a last minute goal from Ardan Turan gave them a 1-2 win over co-hosts Switzerland. This was after the Swiss had taken a 32nd minute lead through Hakan Yakin.

Semih Senturk equalized in the 57th minute to give the Turkish fans hope. Just when it looked like ending in a draw, Turan broke the home fans heart with a deflected goal. Turkish coach Fatih Terim has promised to go all out for a win. A draw in this game will result in penalty shoot out.

The Czech Republic will be looking to bounce back from a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Portugal. The latter sealed a place in the next stage with that win. Goals from Deco, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ricardo Quaresma ensured that the Czechs will need to win this game if they are to progress through although Libor Sionko pulled one back for them.

Czech coach Karol Bruckner will hope his team can get going especially in the goal scoring department. Milan Baros may start this game as Jan Koller has been largely ineffective in front of the goal.
