Domenech has come under heavy criticism in the last couple of years and the World Cup will be his final tournament as the French boss before being replaced by Laurent Blanc. With a number of experts predicting a difficult World Cup for France, Domenech was keen to dismiss the fears by a comfortable victory over Costa Rica.

However the South American side took a shock lead early in the first half through Carlos Hernandez and though France managed to equalize through an own goal, they were unable to break down a stubborn Costa Rican defense before debutant Mathieu Valbuena scored a late winner from a long range effort.

The Marseille midfielder is expected to start the game against Tunisia while Ander-Pierre Gignac, Hugo Lloris and Thierry Henry are also likely to find a place in the starting line-up being benched for the game against Costa Rica.
