Tunisia coach, Roger Lemerre has chosen to go with a largely local squad, meaning most players feature in the Tunisian league rather than in Europe. The only player who plays in Europe in the 23-man squad is striker Silva Dos Santos, who turns out for French side Toulouse. Dos Santos was pivotal in the 2004 African Nations Cup live win for the Carthage Eagles on home soil scoring 4 goals in the tournament. ![]() Tijani Belaid, who is based in the Czech Republic, has been omitted from the squad. Ali Zitouni and David Jemmali and also missing with groin and calf injuries respectively.
Senegal meanwhile are still looking for their first live African Cup of Nations victory. The Taranga Lions flattered to deceive in the 2002 World Cup when they reached the quarterfinals, but were unable to match these efforts in the Nations Cup.
Bolton striker El Hadji Diouf leads a Senegal team that is looking to build on their terrific qualifying campaign when they won five of the six games in their group. Senegal coach Henri Kasperczak has named Newcastle defenders Habib Bèye and Abdoulaye Diagne Faye in his squad. Also featuring is Portsmouth midfielder Pape Bouba Diop and West Ham striker Henri Camara.
