The Rovers qualified for the third round after overcoming Aldershot by a 2-1 margin after their first game finished in a 0-0 draw. Tranmere are languishing in the relegation zone in league one and will hope for an extended run in the FA Cup to give fans something to cheer about.

Tranmere boss Les Parry will continue to be without Alan Mahon and Bas Savage, who miss out with ankle and Achilles injuries respectively. Last season Tranmere lost out to Peterborough United in the second round by a 2-1 margin following a 0-0 draw in the first game.

Meanwhile Wolves have slipped dangerously close to the relegation zone in the premiership and are just one pint above the bottom three. Manager Mick McCarthy is under pressure and could opt to rest some players for this one.

McCarthy’s tactic of resting first team players in the game against Manchester United has come under fire, but he has defended it by saying he does not have a big squad. For this game Michael Kightly, David Edwards and Andy Keogh miss out with ankle injuries, but Stephen Ward could be back for this one. Last season Wolves made it to the fourth round only to lose 1-2 to Middlesbrough.
