Another poor start to the season has seen Spurs drop to the foot of the table. With the club collecting just one point from their first four matches, manager Juande Ramos will be aware that his hopes of breaking into the top four of the league table are all but over and Spurs will have done well if they manage to qualify for Europe next season.

 

 

After losing their opening two matches, Spurs looked to have turned the corner with a determined performance away to Chelsea before the international break but slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

Juande Ramos said that he is disappointed over his side's start to the season, which is the worst in more than 35 years, and admitted that his squad will need time and more matches to get used to the Premiership style of play. The former Sevilla manager added that it could take as many as 15 matches for his players to gel together but expressed confidence that they will be going up the table very soon.

 

 

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce will be hoping that his side will be able to take full advantage of Tottenham's poor form and register their first victory over Spurs after breaking into the Premiership. Wigan had suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat in this fixture last season and Bruce will be happy if his side can come away with at least a point this Sunday.
