The Spurs continued their winning start to the season last weekend at Upton Park when they beat West Ham 2-1. Goals from Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon nullified Carlton Cole's opener for the Hammers and handed Spurs all three points.

Cole was guilty of allowing Defoe to equalize after a horrible back pass was intercepted by the England striker. Manager Harry Redknapp was delighted with his side's showing and will now hope that they can continue on the same path and not falter away as they did towards the end two season ago.

Redknapp has dealt admirably with a host of injury issues as Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson, Jermaine Jenas, Gareth Bale and Heurelho Gomes are keeping the medical staff busy. He is also looking to add another couple of players and has expressed an interest in acquiring the services of Rafael Van Der Vart.

Meanwhile Birmingham were held to a 0-0 draw by Stoke City last week. The Blues had a great chance in the second half, but a heroic save from Potters goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen denied them all three points.

Manager Alex McLeish will be reasonably satisfied with his side's performance and will hope they can avoid a huge defeat in this game. Cameron Jerome and defender Gregory Vignal are doubtful starters for this game.
