Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to qualify for the next round when they welcome Slavia Prague in the second leg of their first knockout round on Thursday. Spurs secured a vital 2-1 victory in the first leg away in Prague and will be confident of getting the required result to progress to the next stage of the competition.

Dimitar Berbatov provided a dream start to the visitors by putting Spurs in the lead by the 4th minute when the Bulgarian international latched on to a poor clearance by the Slavia defense to smash a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Slavia Prague tried to recover from the early blow but it was not before Spurs found the target once again. Robbie Keane raced past the Slavia defense to meet Jermaine Jenas' through ball and slotted it past Slavia goalkeeper Martin Vaniak.

Spurs continued to dominate in the second half but a error from Radek Cerny provided a lifeline for the hosts who got one back in the 69th minute. Though Slavia pushed forward in search of the equalizer, Spurs held on to take their advantage into the second leg.

Slavia will have to drastically improve their form on English soil if they are to survive in the competition. The Czech side has lost on all of its three previous visits to England with the recent defeat coming in the 7-0 drubbing by Arsenal in this season's Champions League fixture.
