Tottenham shrugged away a slew of indifferent results following their Carling Cup win with a brilliant 4-4 draw over Chelsea two weeks ago. Manager Juande Ramos then led his side to a 2-0 win over Pompey last weekend with substitutes Darren Bent and Jamie O'Hara leading Spurs to a deserving win.

With Ledley King back to near-full fitness from a knee injury, the Tottenham defense has a formidable look about it even though Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Gareth Bale are out for the season. With Pascal Chimbonda reportedly seeking a new deal, it appears that Ramos will not need to splash out for defenders in the summer.

However poor results in upcoming games can still drag the Magpies into a dirty relegation battle and that is why games like the Spurs clash need to be taken ultra-seriously.

Shay Given is sidelined for the rest of the season as is Tim Krul. Steve Harper has done a commendable job in goal for the Magpies so far. Last season Newcastle ended up winning this fixture 2-3. They also won the reverse fixture 3-1 earlier this season.
