Everton will be looking to prevent a third successive defeat when they travel to north London to take on Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday night. Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday. Despite dominating the game, Spurs could not get the goal they required, and found themselves reduced to ten men when Aaron Lennon limped off the field with a sore ankle. Stoke made full use of their one man advantage as Glenn Whelan fired home the winner in the 86^th minute.

Spurs hammered Preston North End 5-1 in the previous round. Lanky striker Peter Crouch scored a hat trick, with fellow strikers Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane also scoring as the Lilywhites ran out comfortable winners at Deepdale.

Everton, mauled 5-0 by Benfica in the Europa League, came from two goals behind against Bolton but were denied a point by Ivan Klasnic’s late strike. Bolton were 2-0 up by the 27^th minute, but strikes from Louis Saha and Maroune Fellaini allowed Everton to claw their way back into the game. However Ivan Klasnic grabbed a late winner to give the home side all three points.

Everton beat Hull City 4-0 at the KC Stadium in the third round of the Carling Cup. First half goals from Yakubu, Jo and Dan Gosling put the Toffees 3-0 ahead at half time, and Leon Osman grabbed a fourth in the 57^th minute to complete an emphatic win.
