Switzerland take on Norway in an international friendly on Saturday in a game that gives their coach a chance to test out fringe players ahead of next year's world cup in South Africa. The Swiss qualified as winners of their group in the European round of world cup qualifiers. Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld will be delighted with the form shown by his side and will hope they can continue on the same path well into the next year.

He has named a 23-man squad for the friendly against Norway to be played in Geneva this weekend. Albert Bunjaku has been given his first call-up to the Switzerland squad after his impressive performance at German Bundesliga side Nuremberg. Heinz Barmettler has also been called up for the first time.

Philipp and David Degen have been recalled into the squad, but Hitzfield has decided to rest Blaise Nkufo for this game. Alexander Frei though is named in the squad, but may start on the bench. Eren Derdiyok and Tranquillo Barnetta have also been named in the squad. Valon Behrami returns to the squad after recovering from a serious knee injury that kept him out of the squad during the latter part of the world cup campaign.

Meanwhile Norway finished second in their qualifying group, but failed to make it to the playoffs as they had lesser number of points compared to other second-placed teams. The side will want to use this game as a starting point in building a squad for the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
