The Swiss on their part will be hoping to recover from a shock 1-0 loss to Costa Rica and show some spirit before the start of their World Cup campaign. Winston Parks scored the lone goal of the game on 57 minutes to upset Switzerland's preparations for the finals in South Africa.

Swiss coach Ottmar Hitzfeld will hope that the game against Italy will be better for his side, who looked lackluster against Costa Rica. The Swiss need to be in top shape as they are in a tough Group H in the world cup, which includes Spain, Chile and Honduras. The team was dealt a blow ahead of the cup after it emerged that Christoph Spycher would not be able to play due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile Italy play Mexico on Wednesday night before taking on Switzerland. The Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi has named a tried and tested 23-man squad for South Africa, but having left out Luca Toni, he will be anxious that his strikers deliver.
