Sweden need to register a big win against Group One leaders Denmark when the two teams clash on Saturday if they are to retain any hopes of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Sweden are languishing in the fourth spot of the group with just six points from four games played so far. With three draws and a solitary win, Sweden need to buck up else they will lose their grip in a group that also includes Portugal.

In their last game played in the last week of March, Sweden managed to hang on to hold Portugal to a 0-0 draw. Coach Lars Lagerback will hope his under performing stars are able to up the ante and register a much-needed win on Saturday. As usual the hopes of the side rest on veteran skipper Henrik Larsson and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic will be confident of guiding Sweden's campaign back on track, having finished as the top scorer in Italian Serie A this season.

However Sweden's task will be made considerably harder as they face a Denmark team that has started the world cup 2010 qualifying campaign on a high. The Danes have four wins and a draw from the five games played so far and top the group with 13 points.

In their last game in early April, Denmark beat Albania 3-0 thanks to goals from Leon Andreasen, Soren Larsen and Christian Poulsen. This campaign is especially heartening for Denmark, who missed out qualifying for the last World Cup in Germany as well as Euro 2008.

Coach Morten Olsen will hope the likes of Nicklas Bendtner will come to the fore in the clash against their Nordic neighbors over the weekend and allow Denmark to take one more step toward qualification for South Africa.
