Sweden take on Latvia in the final match of the Euro 2008 qualifiers determined to bounce back from the defeat against Spain and register the point needed to clinch qualification to next year's Euro 2008 finals.

Sweden needed just a point from their remaining two matches but a heavy defeat at hands of Spain meant that they will have to wait till the end of the final match in order to assure their place in the tournament next year.

Goals from Joan Capdevila, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Ramos made sure that Spain emerged comfortable victors from the game and become the first team from the group to clinch qualification.

With Sweden having already pipped Latvia to victory in the first leg of the fixture, coach Lars Lagerbäck is confident that his team does the needful on Wednesday and register a higher points tally than third placed Northern Ireland even though they enjoy a far superior goal difference.

Meanwhile Latvia will be looking to build up on their 4-1 thrashing of Liechtenstein and hope to avoid defeat against Sweden in the final match of the campaign. Two goals in each half made sure that Latvia overcame an early own goal to register a thumping victory over their opponents.

Latvia will be finishing 5th in the group table regardless of the result, though Aleksandrs Starkovs will be looking to end the campaign on a high. Sweden are second in Group F with 23 points from 11 games, while Latvia are fifth with 12 points from 11 games.
