Sunderland take on bottom placed West Bromwich Albion in one of their most important games of the season with both the teams searching for a victory that will see them climb out of the relegation zone. Just three points from their last seven matches has seen Sunderland slip into the relegation zone. The club is yet to announce a successor to Roy Keane after the former Manchester United player handed his resignation last week. Sam Allardyce and Alan Curbishley are front runners for the job with Niall Quinn confirming that he has received more than 30 applications for the vacant post.

However coach Ricky Sbragia will continue his role as the caretaker manager for at least another week and the 52-year old will be hoping that his side will maintain the level of performance that saw them nearly snatch a point against Manchester United last weekend.

 

 

Meanwhile West Brom will be searching for their first win in ten matches and manager Tony Mowbray will be hopeful that his side will manage to take advantage of the poor morale in the Sunderland camp to register only their fourth win this season.

The Baggies are placed at the bottom of the league table and have managed just two points in their last nine matches. West Brom came close to snatching a victory last weekend against Portsmouth after taking the lead through Jonathan Greening but Peter Crouch equalized 13 minutes into the second half to help his side collect a point from the game.
