The Clarets’ season looked doomed to be ending in relegation after they managed to collect just one point from nine league games. However just when it looked as if Burnley will be joining Portsmouth in the Championship, the Clarets produced an excellent performance to thrash Hull City 4-1 last weekend and breathe new life in their fight for safety in the final four games.

Burnley are currently 18th in the league table, four points from safety and have played a game more than their nearest rivals. However manager Brian Laws will be optimistic that his side can avoid the drop if they manage to maintain their performance in the remaining four games.

Meanwhile Sunderland will be looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat to West Ham from last weekend and keep their hopes of a top half finish alive by collecting all three points this weekend. The Black Cats are currently five points behind Stoke City in the race for the 10th place but have played a game more than their immediate rivals.
