The Black Cats started the season very well, but have slowly slipped up in games they should have won with ease. They are currently out of the top 10 and look to be headed towards another mediocre finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile this game represents an opportunity of a lifetime for Barrow players. Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss has insisted that his side will be gunning for a win and that he will only choose in-form players for this clash. Barrow qualified for the third round after overcoming Oxford by a 3-1 margin in a second round replay following a 1-1 draw in the earlier game. Last season the Bluebirds made it to the third round as well eventually losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough.
