They are currently out of the top 10 and look to be headed towards another mediocre finish in the Premier League. Manager Steve Bruce will be looking to test some new players in this game and give some deserved rest to the senior lot. However Bruce has an injury crisis on his hands as Anton Ferdinand is out with an ankle injury, while John Mensah is out with a hamstring issue. Lee Cattermole is also out with a hamstring injury, while Kieran Richardson is nursing a calf injury. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon remains sidelined with a broken arm. Last season the Black Cats lost out to Blackburn by a 2-1 margin in their fourth round replay after playing out a 0-0 draw the first time around. Meanwhile this game represents an opportunity of a lifetime for Barrow players. Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss has insisted that his side will be gunning for a win and that he will only choose in-form players for this clash. Barrow qualified for the third round after overcoming Oxford by a 3-1 margin in a second round replay following a 1-1 draw in the earlier game. Last season the Bluebirds made it to the third round as well eventually losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough.
