Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be expecting his side to bounce back from their shock defeat to Hull City last weekend with an eighth successive league win over Sunderland when the two teams meet in their Premier League clash on Saturday. The Gunners suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Hull at the Emirates Stadium with the defeat meaning that Arsenal surrendered their top position to Chelsea over the weekend. Arsenal dominated the possession throughout the game and looked on course for a victory when they took the lead through an own goal by Paul McShane five minutes into the second half.

 

 

However a spectacular strike by Geovanni pulled Hull back on level terms before Daniel Cousin headed home the second to help Hull to an historic victory in the league. Wenger will be disappointed by the effort shown by his side and has promised to make changes should the players fail to respond against Porto in the Champions League.

Meanwhile Sunderland manager Roy Keane will be satisfied if his side can managed to snatch a point against Arsenal on Saturday. The Black Cats have had a decent start to the season and are positioned 13th in the league table with 7 points from their first six matches.

 

 

Sunderland go into the match on the back of a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa, a match from which Keane would have expected his side to avoid defeat after going into an early lead through Djibril Cisse. However defensive lapses cost the Black Cats dear as Villa first equalized through Ashley Young before John Carew scored the winner on the half hour mark to collect all three points for his side.
