Arsenal take on Sunderland in their final match of this season and will be hoping to finish their campaign with a fourth straight victory in the league.

The Gunners will be finishing the season in third place, one spot above from where they ended the last season, and will be hoping to close down the gap to second place to just one point should Chelsea slip up against Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.

Manager Arsene Wenger will be ruing the slump in form in the final third of the season that saw his side hand over a five point lead to Manchester United and slip down to third in the league table. Wenger has been criticized for lack of experience in the squad and for his hesitancy to spend on established players in the transfer window.

With Mathieu Flamini joining AC Milan on a free transfer and Alexander Hleb's future at the club yet to be decided, Arsenal is expected to be a major player in the summer transfer market with the club expected to target a goalkeeper, midfielder and a defender.

Meanwhile Sunderland will be hoping to pull off an upset and attempt to finish 13th in the league table, a position that will be their highest in the league in last 3 seasons of Premiership football. Manager Roy Keane is expected to make wholesale changes to the squad in the summer and the match against Arsenal will be the last game for Sunderland players to show their talent and determination to the manager.

Keane is reportedly unhappy with the performance of a number of players and is expected to put them on the transfer list or terminate their contracts. With the board promising money to spend in the summer and with the club confirming their place in the Premiership for the next season, Keane will be looking forward to attract the kind of players that had rejected a move to the club last summer.
