New signings Laurent Koscielny and Marouane Chamakh made their debut last Saturday at Underhill for the Gunners when they crushed Barnet 4-0. Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin, who had scored a goal in the corresponding fixture the previous season, opened the scoring after just ninety seconds after playing a nice one two with Tomas Rosicky.

Upcoming striker Jay Simpson netted two more before the half time whistle to give Arsenal a 3-0 lead going into the break. French midfielder Samir Nasri netted the last goal of the game fifteen minutes from time as the Gunners comfortably beat the Bees.

Sturm Graz started their new Bundesliga campaign on a winning note as they eased past Ried 3-0. Hungarian forward Imre Szabics netted a goal in either half for the visitors. Joachim Standfest also got his name on the scoresheet.
