Wigan have managed to collect just one point from their last six games and have slipped from seventh to just outside the top half of the league table. With just two games remaining in the season, the Latics will have to collect maximum points if they are to have any hopes of improving on their best ever finish in the league.

Manager Steve Bruce will be happy with his side's display against Manchester United on Wednesday even though the Latics lost by a late goal. Wigan matched their opponents for most of the game and looked on course for a shock victory when Hugo Rodallega had put them in the lead by the 28th minute. However United struck back through Carlos Tevez and Michael Carrick to secure all three points late in the game.

While Wigan do have a chance to finish inside the top half of the league table, Bruce will be satisfied if his side can hold on to their 11th place with the club in danger of slipping as low as 14th in the table should they fail to arrest their poor form.

Stoke City on the other hand will be high on confidence after mathematically assuring their safety in the Premier League with a hard fought 2-1 win over Hull City. Ricardo Fuller and Liam Lawrence scored the goals for Stoke and though Hull reduced the deficit late in the game, Stoke managed to hold on and claim all three points from the game.

Manager Tony Pulis expressed his delight at assuring their safety and will be viewing any more points as bonus with the Potters having a great chance of finishing the season in 11th place should they manage to beat Wigan on Saturday.
