The Potters are still languishing in the relegation zone despite holding Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw on Sunday. Stiliyan Petrov's strike gave the home side the lead and John Carew doubled the lead to raise the specter of yet another demoralizing loss for Stoke. However Ryan Shawcross headed in James Beattie's cross three minutes from the finish, while Glenn Whelan grabbed an injury-time equalizer to ensure both sides shared the spoils.

The draw leaves Stoke on the 19th spot on the premiership table with 26 points from 27 games. Rory Delap and Matthew Etherington missed the Villa game due to suspension and their role is unclear in this game as well. However Ricardo Fuller has recovered from a shoulder injury and should feature. Manager Tony Pulis will hope his side can garner all three points from this game and rise out of the danger zone.

 

 

Bolton Wanderers have gone from strength to strength this season after a rocky start. The Trotters grabbed a 1-0 win over Newcastle United over the weekend to rise to the 10th spot on the league table with 33 points from 27 games. A lone goal from substitute Ricardo Gardner was enough for Bolton to take all three points.

Manager Gary Megson, who has signed a rolling contract at the club, would have been delighted with his side's win and will hope they can make it a hat-trick of wins when they travel to Stoke on Wednesday.
