The Potters will also be hoping to bounce back form a 2-0 loss to Manchester City on Boxing Day. First half goals from Martin Petrov and Carlos Tevez gave the Citizens a facile win. Although Stoke had plenty of chances, they were unable to breach their opponents' vulnerable defence.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis was frustrated by his side's inability to score at Eastlands and will hope that they can overcome that defect at home against Birmingham. Pulis will be delighted that Mamady Sidibe has opted out of the African Nations Cup next month.

Meanwhile Birmingham are on a magical run that has seen them remain unbeaten in their last 10 Premiership games. The Blues held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at St Andrews on Boxing Day. They had goalkeeper Joe Hart to thank for as his excellent saves kept Chelsea at bay. Blues boss Alex McLeish was delighted with his side's effort against Chelsea, but will be hoping for an outright win against Stoke on Monday. Birmingham are currently placed 7th on the league table with 29 points from 19 games played so far.

McLeish has been promised substantial funds in the January transfer window, but has indicated to owner Carson Yeung that he will have the final say in these matters and that he will not buy big names just for the sake of it.
