The Reds have had a disappointing first half of the season and find themselves seventh in the league table, five points behind Manchester City in the race for the final Champions League spot. Meanwhile Stoke City will be looking to avenge their heavy defeat to Liverpool from early this season and register their first victory over Benitez’s side in more than 25 years. The Potters registered their first win in seven games with a hard fought win over Fulham and manager Tony Pulis will be hopeful that the result will prove to be the catalyst that will see his side cement their place inside the top half of the league table.
