The Hoops train Rangers by nine points at the top of the SPL table, but have played a game less than their rivals. Last week they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by bottom club Falkirk in a terrible result as far as the title race is concerned. Carl Finnigan gave Falkirk a 19th minute lead, but Georgios Samaras leveled in the 40th minute to rescue a point for Celtic.

Manager Tony Mowbray is under immense pressure at Celtic Park and that pressure may reach cracking point should the club fail to win any silverware this season. Celtic are already out of the Champions League, Europa League and the Scottish League Cup. They managed to stay in the Scottish Cup competition by virtue of a 1-0 win over Morton on Tuesday.

For this game, Ki Sung-Yueng misses out with a twisted ankle, while Stephen McManus and Danny Fox remain doubtful starters.

Meanwhile St Johnstone will aim to take advantage of the uncertainty in the Celtic ranks and grab at least a point from this fixture. This will be the Saints' first SPL game since Boxing Day as the Big Freeze ruled out any games in the interim. However they managed to progress to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 3-0 win over Forfar Athletic on Tuesday.

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes could be without Filipe Morais for this time as the latter is struggling with a tight hamstring. Collin Samuel, Kevin Rutkiewicz and Martin Hardie continue to be sidelined with knee injuries.
