St Etienne have had a rather unique campaign so far. They are fifth from bottom in the table with ten points from as many games, but they also happen to be the only team in the league to have got the better of both Bordeaux and Monaco, who are currently first and second going into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

ASSE were beaten 2-0 by Valenciennes at home last Saturday. Goals in either half from Johan Audel and David Ducourtioux condemned Alain Perrin’s men to their sixth league defeat of the new season. Young defender Yoann Andreu, who was suspended for the Valenciennes game, is available for selection against OL.

After their stunning Champions League win over Liverpool at Anfield, Lyon were brought down to earth last weekend as they were humiliated 4-1 by second from bottom Nice. What probably made it worse for fans of Les Gones was the fact  there was an OL reject involved in some way or the other with all the Nice goals.

Loic Remy assisted Mamadou Bagayako for the opener, and induced an error from Cissokho that lead to the second goal. Anthony Mounier set up David Hellebuyck for Nice’s third, and Remy himself finished things off with a quarter of an hour left on the clock. Ederson scored a late consolation goal for Lyon, who were without defender Mathieu Bodmer and first choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris against Le Gym.
