Sporting Lisbon are almost through to the next stages of the UEFA Champions League, but they will nevertheless want to make sure of it when they play Shakhtar Donetsk at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon on Tuesday. Watch all the soccer live here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Sporting currently have 6 points from three matches having won against Basel and Shakhtar. Sporting began the campaign in a shoddy manner losing 3-1 against Barcelona away from home at the Nou Camp. However they bounced back with a 2-0 win over Basel and then beat Shakhtar Donetsk on the last Matchday thanks to a goal from Liedson late in the game.

A win here with see the Portuguese club move into the next stages unless Basel stage an upset win over Barcelona. However Sporting coach Paulo Bento will be without defender Tonel after the latter suffered a hairline fracture to the calf bone in his left leg.

 

 

Meanwhile Shakhtar have 3 points from three games having beaten Basel in their opening encounter, but having lost the subsequent ones to Barcelona and Sporting.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu will be hoping his team can get something out of this game and remain in the race for a spot in the next stages. Else Shakhtar may well have to fight for the best third place finish, which can send them into the UEFA Cup. A loss here will eliminate Shakhtar from the Champions League competition altogether.
