It will be a strange looking Spain squad that will take the field in Euro 2008 devoid of their former skipper Raul. However coach Luis Aragones is looking to build a youthful squad and perhaps age may have been against Raul, who last played for Spain in 2006. Boban Krkic has also been omitted from the squad after the teenager complained of fatigue.

 

 

One can never discount Spain although they have never done justice to their huge pool of talent. This time as well the odds appear to be stacked in their favor with mean goal scoring machines like Fernando Torres leading the pack.

Aragones has also called up Sergio Garcia and it will be interesting to see how he pairs up with Torres. In their other friendly against Peru, Spain managed to eke out a 2-1 win thanks to goals from David Villa and Joan Capdevila.

The USA lost to England last Wednesday and will hope to do better in this one. John Terry and Steven Gerrard scored the winning goals in that game.

 

 

United States coach Bob Bradley has included a majority of England-based players in his squad ahead of the game. Clint Dempsey, Carlos Bocanegra, Eddie Johnson, Benny Feilhaber, DaMarcus Beasley, Eddie Lewis, Jonathan Spector, Tim Howard and Jay DeMerit have been included in his squad.
