The Blues were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in their last match with Peter Clarke scoring an injury time equalizer after Salomon Kalou had given Chelsea the lead in the first half.

Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and DImitar Berbatov were on target as Chelsea failed to put up a fight, allowing United to reduce the gap to just one point in the league table.

 

 

Southend on the other hand will be high on confidence following their draw against Chelsea in their last match. With the club not playing last weekend after their league match against Crewe being postponed due to a frozen pitch, Steve Tilson will be hoping that his side is fully prepared to meet Chelsea on Wednesday.
