Sheffield United overcame Charlton in their fourth round tie by a 2-1 margin to go through to this stage. Danny Webber scored the first goal in that game with what was a peach of a strike and then Lee Hendrie doubled their advantage.

Charlton managed to pull one back through Chris Dickson, but were unable to equalize and thus force a replay. Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell will be hoping his side can continue their recent form, which has seen them stay unbeaten for ten games in a row.

 

 

Meanwhile Hull City recorded their first win of the New Year in all competitions when they beat Milwall 2-0 in their fourth round of the FA Cup. The Tigers, who are struggling to string together some wins in the Premier League, were sent through thanks to goals from Michael Turner and Ian Ashbee.

This also happens to be the first time since 1989 that Hull have made it to the fifth round of the FA Cup and manager Phil Brown will hope that their win will bring in some decent results in the League as well.

 

 

Meanwhile the club has ruled out knee surgery for record signing Jimmy Bullard after the midfielder was passed fit by specialists in America. On another front, striker Daniel Cousin has undergone minor knee surgery and may not be risked in this game. After a bright start, Hull are struggling to stitch together some points in the Premiership and with that in mind, manager Brown is likely to rest his top names this weekend.
