A timely return to form has seen Sevilla rise to 6th in the league table and stand a good chance of challenging for a Champions League place come the end of the season. Sevilla are currently on a good run of six wins in their last 10 matches and are just five points short of Atletico Madrid, who are 4th in the table.

Sevilla emerged comfortable 4-2 winners against Espanyol last weekend with goals from Luis Fabiano and Frederic Kanoute giving them an early 2-0 lead. However Espanyol pulled one back before half time through Luis Garcia but Christian Poulsen restored the two goal lead in the 74th minute. Coro scored Espanyol's second two minutes later, sparking hopes of a late comeback but it was not to be as Diego Capel grabbed a fourth for the visitors to complete a comfortable victory.

Meanwhile Real Zaragoza will be looking to snap out of successive defeats as they push for a European place in the league table. Zaragoza have now suffered back to back defeats against Osasuna and Barcelona and manager Javier Irureta will be looking for an improved performance when they visit Sevilla this weekend.

Zaragoza were unfortunate to come out empty handed against Barcelona after matching their much illustrious opponents for most of the match. Ricardo Oliveira had equalized for the hosts after Thierry Henry had put Barca ahead in the first half. However a late penalty kick by Ronaldinho snatched all three points for the visitors who remain in 9th position.
