Real Betis on the other hand are involved in a relegation battle and only a run of decent results can save their live La Liga season. In their last game before the Christmas break, Betis were held to a 0-0 draw by Real Valladolid at the Estadio Nuevo José Zorrilla.

The game had a dubious record as 44 fouls were committed and eight players were booked. Betis also have a long injury list as Doblas and Nano are being monitored on a day-to-day basis, while David Odonkor is out indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
