Sevilla face a relatively easy task of winning 1-0 at home to book their place in Champions League quarterfinals after having lost narrowly to Fenerbahce 3-2 in the first leg tie at Istanbul.

Mateja Kezman had put Fenerbahce ahead in the 17th minute in their first leg tie, but an own goal from Edu had brought Sevilla back into the game. However in the 57th minute Lugano gave the hosts the lead once again with a fine strike and left Sevilla staring at defeat.

However Julien Escude brought the Spanish side back into the game with a close range shot in the 66th minute. Just when it looked like Sevilla would take the advantage into the second leg at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, Semih Senturk snatched a late winner for Fenerbahce in the 87th minute giving them a narrow advantage.

The win was also Fenerbahce's first ever win over Spanish opposition in European club competition. Although they go into the second leg with a slight advantage, Fenerbahce will know they cannot take Sevilla for granted. Fenerbahce coach Zico was cautious ahead of the clash and said his side needed to focus on gaining a win.

Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez has managed to get his side into some sort of consistency after an indifferent start following the departure of Juande Ramos to Tottenham. Sevilla will be without the services of striker Ernesto Chevanton, who is out for another two weeks following a knee injury.
