After a disappointing defeat to Macedonia in their first match, Scotland recovered in time to register a narrow 2-1 win over Iceland to hand manager George Burley his first competitive victory since taking over as the national team coach.

The Scotland manager will be hoping that his side will continue their good form but will be aware that Norway poses a tougher test than Iceland. Burley will be sweating on the fitness of Kevin Thomson and Kris Commons with both the players suffering injuries last week.

 

 

Kevin Thomson limped off the field during Rangers' clash against St Mirren while Derby County's Commons was out injured on Saturday. Assistant manager Terry Butcher expressed confidence that both the players will be ready for the clash against Norway adding that Thompson is expected to start on the bench on Saturday.

Norway too are suffering a mini injury crisis with as many as four key players doubtful for the match against Scotland. Steffen Iversen is unlikely to take the field while Per Ciljan Skjelbred is yet to recover from his injury.

 

 

Coach Age Hareide will be hopeful that Lillestrom midfielder Bjorn Helge Riise and Aston Villa striker John Carew will both recover in time for the match as he looks to improve on Norway's disappointing 2-2 draw against Iceland in their first match.
