Scotland's hopes of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup next year were dealt a severe blow by their 3-0 loss to Netherlands at the Amsterdam Arena on Saturday. Goals from Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Robin van Persie and Dirk Kuyt gave the Dutch a facile win and almost destroyed Scottish qualification hopes.

Scotland manager George Burley has stressed his side can still make it, but added that they need to win this game in order to stay in the hunt. Stephen McManus is still a doubtful starter for Scotland having missed out against the Dutch with an ankle injury. The Celtic skipper will need to pass a late fitness test to take his place in the squad.

James McFadden, Shaun Maloney, Barry Robson, Kevin Thomson, Lee Miller and Garry O'Connor miss out with injuries, while Alan Hutton could be fit for this game after being omitted from the previous one due to lack of match fitness. Scotland are placed third in Group Nine with 4 points from 4 games.

Iceland have the same number of points, but are second due to a better goal difference. They lost 1-2 to Scotland when the sides met at Reykjavik earlier in the campaign. Coach Olafur Johannesson has revealed he may turn to youth as he charts out a course for the future.

However for the Scotland game, he will hope that star players like Eidur Gudjohnsen and Aron Gunnarsson will inspire Iceland to a much-needed win.
