Northern Ireland will be hoping for something special to revive their lackluster World Cup qualifying campaign when they take on lowly San Marino in Serravalle on Wednesday. Catch all the live World Cup qualifiers here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

The Irish are currently languishing on the fifth spot in Group Three with 4 points from as many games. Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is under pressure to bring his side's qualifying campaign back on track and has expressed confidence he can do so. Worthington has shrugged off interest from Norwich for their vacant managerial post insisting he is focused on helping Ireland make it through for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

For this crucial qualifier, Worthington has called up Celtic winger Pat McCourt and Niall McGinn. Meanwhile Aaron Hughes, George McCartney, Stephen Craigan and Steven Davis also make their way back into the side after being rested in their side's friendly against Hungary last November.

 

 

Keith Gillespie does not find a place in the squad, while Michael Duff, Michael O'Connor and Peter Thompson are all out. Manchester United defender Johnny Evans was named in the original squad, but was forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury. Chris Baird also appears to be out as he is suffering from tonsillitis.

Northern Ireland have already beaten San Marino 4-0 in what is to date their only win in this campaign. David Healy, Grant McCann, Kyle Lafferty and Steven Davis all scored to help the Irish to a deserved win. Worthington will be hoping for a repeat performance in this game.

 

 

Meanwhile San Marino have proved to be the whipping boys in their group and are at the bottom with no points from their four games. They will need to lift themselves up if they are to register their first point of this campaign on Wednesday.
