Romania will be fancying their chances against France when the two teams meet in their World Cup qualifier clash on Saturday. Watch all the live international football here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

France put up less than convincing displays in their first two matches as they suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Austria in their first match before recovering to register a narrow 2-1 win at home to Serbia. A string of poor performances stretching back to Euro 2008 in the summer has seen pressure increase on Raymond Domenech with media reports suggesting that Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc is in line to replace the 56-year old coach should the national team struggle in the qualification campaign.

Domenech has recalled Patrick Viera and Frank Ribery to the national squad with both the players absent from the international scene for some time. Viera has been out of action since May with a thigh injury which saw the Inter Milan midfielder miss Euro 2008 while Ribery suffered an ankle injury during the tournament and has only recently returned back to full fitness.

 

 

The France coach is also sweating on the fitness of Nicolas Anelka with the Chelsea striker suffering from muscular problems which saw him limp off the field against Aston Villa on the weekend. Portsmouth Lassana Diarra has pulled out of the 22-man squad due to a knee injury that will see him miss both of the qualifying matches.

Meanwhile Romania coach Victor Piturca will be without star striker Marius Niculae for the match on Saturday. The Dinamo Bucharest striker is suffering from a left leg muscle lesion and will be out of action for at least three weeks.

 

 

Niculae's injury will come as a blow for Piturca who could be without Mirel Radoi with the midfielder nursing a knee injury. However the team doctors have expressed confidence that Radoi will be fit to take at least some part of the action this weekend.
