Madrid coach Bernd Schuster will be confident that his team will live up to their favorites tag and will be looking to get an early advantage when they visit Rome on Wednesday. Madrid finished at the top of Group C after a defeating Lazio in their final group game with a comfortable margin of 3-1.

Meanwhile Roma will be looking to avenge the two defeats that they had suffered against Madrid in the 2004-05 season. Roma were eliminated from the group stage after collecting just one point and were at the receiving end of two heavy defeats against Madrid.

However fortunes have changed for better and Roma are currently positioned second in the Seria A league table, 8 points behind Inter. Roma qualified for the knockout stage after finishing second in Group F, four points above third placed Sporting CP.
