Republic of Ireland will look to build on some good results as they play Cyprus in their next 2010 World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. Watch all the live international soccer here on Live Sport Network. Ireland won their first game 2-1 against Georgia, but were held to a 0-0 draw at Montenegro. Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has multiple injury concerns ahead of this game and he will be hoping that his side will do better at home despite missing key players.
Damien Duff, Steve Finnan, Stephen Kelly and Steven Reid are all out with injury forcing Trapattoni to hand senior caps to Caleb Folan, Kevin Foley, Anthony Stokes, Keith Andrews and Darron Gibson. Trapattoni is unbeaten in his five games in charge of the Republic and he will hope his side can extend the streak at Croke Park on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Cyprus hung on to secure a 1-1 draw against Georgia in their last world cup qualifier. Efstathios Aloneftis missed a penalty for Cyprus, but Michael Konstantinou put them ahead in the 66th minute. Georgia, who were playing at home for the first time since hostilities broke out with Russia in August, were saved by Levan Kobiashvili, who netted in a late goal following a goalmouth scramble.
Cyprus lost their first game against Italy and hence this result would have done their confidence a world of good ahead of their visit to the Republic of Ireland this Wednesday.
