The Galacticos are currently six points behind Barca having secured 72 points from 31 games played so far. While their season has improved since the arrival of Juande Ramos as coach, Real are still in danger of ending up without claiming any major silverware.

Over the weekend, Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Recreativo Huelva thanks to a lone goal from Marcelo. Real are struggling on the injury front as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ruben De La Red and Mahamadou Diarra are out for the season, but fortunately, their replacements have worked well for the club.

Meanwhile Getafe slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Barcelona over the weekend courtesy of Argentina wonder-kid Lionel Messi. The Catalans could have had more goals, but the superlative performance of on-loan goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic helped Getafe avoid a rout.

The club is still embroiled in a relegation battle although their unexpected win over Sevilla allowed them to create a four point gap between themselves and the bottom three.

Manager Victor Munoz will hope his side can do enough to avoid the drop this season. The club's cause will be helped by the return of goalkeeper Jacobo Sanz from suspension. However it is likely that Vladimir Stojkovic will retain his place after his excellent show against Barcelona.

Getafe currently have 34 points from 31 games and are placed 14th on the league table.
