Real were given a tough time by Irish league side Shamrock Rovers in their first pre-season friendly. Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut for Los Merengues, but it was another Galactico, young French striker Karim Benzema, who scored the winning goal for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Brazilian superstar Kaka, who did not travel to Ireland, is expected to make his debut for the club in the live Peace Cup. The same goes for defender Raul Albiol. Real are one of the favourites for the Peace Cup, and their world record signings are expected to set the stadium alight with their performances.

Al Ittihad, last season's Saudi Arabian champions, are the oldest club in their country. Former Marseille coach Eric Gerets has taken charge of the Tigers as they aim to replicate last season's success. They have also reached the last eight of the AFC Champions League, where they will face Pakhtakor Tashkent in September. Ittihad topped their group, and beat Al-Shabab in the round of 16.

Captain Mohammed Noor, often referred to as the Saudi Patrick Vieira, will be a player to watch out for in this tournament. Gerets will also rely a lot on Moroccan striker Hicham Aboucherouane and his partner Naif Hazazi.Al Ittihad are in Group B, along with Real and Ecuadorean side LDU Quito.
