Madrid have bounced back from their El Clasico defeat to Barcelona by notching up two straight victories including a 3-2 thriller at Valencia last weekend. Los Blancos twice took the lead through Gonzalo Higuain but Valencia equalized both times only for Ezequiel Garay to score the winner seven minutes from the final whistle.

The victory sees Madrid remain five points behind Barcelona at the top of the table though they do have a game in hand and will be hoping to close down the gap to just two points with a comfortable victory this weekend.

Madrid will be without defender Pepe who was injured in the game against Valencia and will be out of action for at least six months. The club has revealed that it is likely to dip in the transfer market in January to sign a cover for the defender.

Meanwhile Real  Zaragoza will be hoping to appoint a new coach as soon as possible following the sacking of Marcelino on Monday. The Blanquillos have had a poor start to the season and sit 18th in the league table with just 12 points from their 14 games.

Zaragoza have collected just one point from their last five games and the poor performance in their 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao proved to be the last straw for the management which replaced Marcelino with second team coach Jose Aurelio Gay on a temporary basis.
