Madrid are inching ever closer to their second league title in as many years after opening up a seven point gap over Barcelona. Two dropped points against Mallorca last weekend did not prove to be costly for Schuster's side after Barcelona were held to a 0-0 draw by Getafe while Villarreal lost out to Sevilla.

Murcia on the other hand are facing a tough battle for their survival in the league with the club seven points away from safety. Javier Clemente's side are currently positioned 19th in the league table with 29 points and will be hoping to build on their shock victory against Valencia last weekend.

Ivan Alonso scored the only goal of the match in the 36th minute to give his side a fighting chance of avoiding relegation. Clemente will be looking to come away with at least a point from the match with Murcia not losing to Madrid in their last two meetings.
