Real Madrid will be hoping to take advantage of their away goal when they welcome AS Roma in the second leg of their Champions League knockout stages on Wednesday.

Madrid looked on course for a regulation victory against Roma in the first leg after taking an early lead through Raul. However the hosts stepped up the pressure and David Pizarro equalized for Roma before Mancini grabbed the winner midway through the second half to claim a vital win for the Italian side.

Madrid will now have to beat Roma at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday if they are to progress through to the quarter finals and manager Bernd Schuster will be confident of achieving the required result with Madrid winning their last five home matches against Italian clubs.

However their record against Roma is not that impressive with the Italian side already having tasted victory in the 2002-03 Champions League group stage as a Francesco Totti goal propelling them to a 1-0 victory. The victory came after Roma had held Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the same stage previous season with Totti once again on the score sheet.

Roma's last visit to Bernabeu was in the 2004-05 group stage when they lost the tie 4-2 but manager Luciano Spalletti will be confident of a different result this time around.
