The Royals are the only Championship club surviving in the competition and coach Brian McDermott will be hopeful that they can extend their cup run by securing a victory over Villa at the Madejski Stadium.

Villa suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Carling Cup final but manager Martin O’Neill will be confident that his side can successfully negotiate the challenge posed by Reading and book a place in the semi finals.
