Reading v Liverpool Live
Reading welcome Liverpool to the Madejski Stadium with the hope of registering their first win in their last five Premiership games. After their 2-1 win over New Newcastle in late October, Reading have lost three games on the trot and have drawn one.
In their last Premiership game, Reading drew 1-1 to Middlesbrough, a result that has not pleased manager Steve Coppell. Dave Kitson got the lead for Reading, but Tuncay came up with a late equalizer to frustrate the home side. The Royals are hovering above the relegation zone and the Christmas games could very well decide their fate although Chairman John Madejski has vowed to strengthen the player roster in January.
Duberry is out with a cracked rib and has not played since November 3, while Little is out indefinitely with an Achilles tendon problem. Reading are 13th in the Premiership table with 14 points from 15 games.
Liverpool have shown magnificent goal scoring form in recent times. Following their record 8-0 win over Besiktas in the UEFA Champions League, the Reds trounced Bolton 4-0 in their last Premiership game.
The result meant Liverpool have chalked up five successive wins in the past few weeks. Goals from Sami Hyppia, Torres, Gerrard and Babel gave Liverpool the win against Bolton and moved them into the top four on the Premiership table.
For Liverpool, Agger is still out after suffering from broken bones in his foot while on international duty. Pennant has a shin injury, while Alonso is battling a recurring foot injury. Liverpool are fourth on the Premiership table with 30 points from 14 games.
